Alastair – Co-Founder & chocolate maker
Ali co-founded Chocolate Tree with Friederike in 2005, back when we travelled the UK music festival scene with our mobile geodome chocolaterie! When Ali is not in the factory making chocolate he can usually be found outdoors; from in the sea freediving, climbing mountains, playing disc golf or riding a fat bike along the East Lothian coastline. Ali is passionate about re-wilding Scotland, and conservation of the rainforest in South and Central America, he is a father of 2 great kids and likes to put wellbeing and health first for his family.
Friederike – Co-Founder & chocolatier
Friederike is the creative master behind Chocolate Tree, she came to Edinburgh from Lübeck in Germany to study maths before meeting Ali and starting Chocolate Tree. She does all the designs on our packaging, and decides on all our recipes, Freddy has always excelled in her creative pursuits and in her spare time Freddy works clay in her home pottery studio and is an avid knitter. She has adopted Scotland as her homeland, and cares passionately about it’s future.
Erin – Production assistant
Erin joined Chocolate Tree in 2021 after being a massive lover of our chocolate and having a great interest in our story, so when the opportunity arose to join the team and learn more, she jumped on board! Outside of work Erin is a proud wife and mother of two. She loves long dog walks with the family, and heading off on adventures in “Betty” her campervan. Family time is the most important thing to Erin, and making sure her children grow up happy, healthy, and to appreciate what is around them.
Nicole – Production assistant
Nicole joined Chocolate Tree in September 2021. Sharing our values Nicole is passionate about producing great quality products for our customers. Outside of work Nicole loves quality time with her family. She enjoys beach and woodland walks with her daughter and their dogs, musicals, reading and gardening. In addition to this Nicole is an avid and passionate advocate for animals and the environment.
Graeme – Chocolatier & production manager
Graeme joined Chocolate Tree in June 2022, when he had the chance to join the team and learn something new it was an easy decision to make. Since joining Graeme has been learning the full chocolate making process to produce quality chocolate products. Away from the world of chocolate Graeme enjoys watching football, cooking and walks with the dogs.
Silvia – Chocolatier
Silvia joined Chocolate Tree in September 2023 after graduating in Patisserie & Confectionary at Edinburgh College, where she discovered a strong passion for working with chocolate. Silvia enjoys being involved in all aspects of the job, especially the artisan chocolates making. Some of the things she loves besides chocolate are live concerts, being in nature, writing and eating pizza – especially the one she makes with her family in Italy!
